Pieces of you drift through my mind

Who you were

Who you are

Who you could have been

Unwelcome

Merciful bits of time go by where I don't think of you

Then suddenly you're there

Unbidden

My mind has found your memory with an innocent thought

A conversation is brought forth with a simple word

An all too familiar song brings pain to my heart

How does one remove all traces of the things that cause pain?

I suppose we shouldn't

They should drift there forever
