What makes up the fiber of a good man? It is the many strands of life wound together Into the rope that has become his life The strands of character made from adversity Falling down and rising time after time after time Never giving in or giving up The strands of truth gleaned from the example of others As they stand tall in adversity un-bowing Courage lies in truth and vice versa The strands of love from parent to child Amazing, instantaneous and unconditional The love of another, warm and sweet The strands of faith in a God that is loving Forgiving at my worst possible moment Understanding of my shortcomings The strands of tolerance as taught by example Loving one and loving all as God loved me Remembering for whence I came The strands of being of service to others Constant thoughts of others eases my burdens I have no choice but to try to help them relieve theirs The strands of patience for all others Their shortcomings pale when compared to mine Remembering how others were patient as I failed and fell short The strands of knowledge and understanding Whether by experience, rote or book Always trying to keep an open mind The strands of forgiveness of self and others When it seems too hard to forgive God has, why not I? The strands of mentors involved in my life Their experience invaluable Their time precious and always available The strands of gratitude for all that I have received Knowing and aware that I am Blessed each day As I walks in Gods' Grace The strands of devotion to a higher ideal Far higher than he ever envisioned Far higher than he will reach These are the things that make up the fiber of a good man A just man A loving man A humble man A Good Man |
