Brothers

We went to the same school
And had the same goals.
You beat me at chess
Then I was your sergeant.

For three years I watched you grow.
We played for the same football team,
Your father gave you a new car
I got a card.

We both enlisted together
Brothers forever.
I was the best man at your wedding
And soon we would go to war.

You and I got stuck with new men
And took my tooth brush to clean your weapon.
Bad news came that day in December
Your wife had a change of heart.

Now and forever I will miss you in my heart.
