This is my ballad that i wrote for my lit class.
A Hershey Kiss

She looked to the sky to see tiny little faces,
As she lay down upon her sorry excuse for a bed,
She stared at the tiny lights, the far away places,
Trying to remember what her Professor had said.

She can hear some laughing from across the room
As she glared at the TV; she wished she hadn’t moved it all the way in the back.
The girl turned back to her homework, which filled her with gloom
Until she heard a familiar voice, it was her neighbor Mac.

Sighing and walking to the door, for she was too bored to study,
Sarah opened the door and greeted her peppy friend.
“There is this thing called a cell phone you know,” said the boys buddy,
“I tried texting but it just wouldn’t send!”

“You need a hobby,” she said as she let him in,
“My hobby is to bother you,” he said with mirth.
He walked around the tiny apartment then turned towards Sarah with a grin,
“We’re going to spend the day with mother earth.”

“Mac, you know I can’t stay out for long” she replied with a warning look.
“Then we’ll just grab a quick bite to eat,” he said as they walked out the door.
The silence reined so Mack resorted to small talk, “what’s your favorite book?”
Sarah laughed; she knew this trip wouldn’t be a bore.

As they ate in the quaint little café in a bookstore,
Sarah and Mac ate and quietly chatted about themselves,
They each learned something about the other they never knew before,
Sarah loved dolphins; Mac was scared of elves.

Their fingers intertwined as they slowly strode back to their homes,
“You never did tell me where that tattoo was,” Sarah reminded Mac
“It was a temporary tattoo that I put on one of my house gnomes”
Their laughter filled the crisp air and she gave him a little smack.

“Tonight was fun, we should do it again,” she said as she opened her door,
“How about tomorrow?” he grinned, “I know a great park nearby.”
“It’s a date,” she grinned, closed the door, and then spied a Hershey kiss on the floor,
She grinned and picked up his subtle yet loving goodbye.
