Friday morning dawned a little warmer.
Usually I create excuses to avoid snow,
Not so when Emily visits in winter.
I found the black plastic boat sled,
Not used and lonely for two years.
The bottom worn thin, from too many trips,
Hand holds missing, frayed rope coming unraveled.
Echoes of dad’s laughter
and little girl shrieks.
Snow was melting, and like Frosty the Snow Man;
No time to tarry, we must make the most of the day.
Over and over Emily slides down small hills,
While the puppy prances and jumps.
