With green shafts of violet neon light,
I hold the reins of your deceiver’s heart.
You fear me; try escape in darkened night.
You know I’ll not let us exist apart.
Come back into my safe protective web,
my love is burning. Nine times nine corrupts.
Without your fear, I feel life forces ebb.
Anger volcanic, molten ice erupts
to sweep you under, under twilight tears.
(Control the demon’s madness; voices loud).
Triumphant laughter echoes through her fear.
No rescue now, unseen through faceless crowd.
Not gently did surrender fin’ly end,
but ‘gainst my anger she could not defend.
(A Shakespearian style sonnet for poetry class. Prompt: Jealousy.)
