A pair of black crows, staying together - a poem.
I gaze out of a second story, breakroom window
Through the sturdy glass at a pair of black crows,
So large and ominous,
Each perched in a different eucalyptus tree.
The wholesome, ebony-colored birds
Pecking at the shedding bark,
Trying to gather some delectable bugs or insects,
Or some tasty sap from the tan and brown trunks.
They appear not to find any of either,
And one of the dark, tranquil, yet fully engaged birds
Flutters and leaps to a different branch,
Then departs the receptive tree,
Soaring from right to left,
Then high in the dark, cloudy sky to my right,
Going between two of the stand of trees.
I suddenly learn that they are a pair,
As the other beautiful, yet mysterious bird follows,
Appearing between the two trees as the first one did,
Attempting to accompany its partner
On their continuing search for sustenance.
A tandem of gifted black crows,
Resolute in partnership and desire,
Soaring high above humanity,
Gracing the earth with substantive
Beauty and appeal!
