Sleepless nights, I suffer through them
Fatigued and almost out of wit
My body begs the night's reprieve
My droopy eyes call for the dark
Yet consciousness demands I wake
With all my cluttered thoughts afloat
The flesh is weakened, tired, sore
The mind is up and raring still
So great is the need for rest
Tomorrow's sun, a daunting light
Whilst here I lie frustrated
With dreams just barely out of reach
Let me have this little death
A few hours worth of sweet neglect
With no worries, pains or fears
Only temporary lifelessness
Sing a lullabye so slow and soft
My head onto the pillow rests
The rest of me just follows down
Slowly drowning in the clouds
Oh! mercy comes at last, thank God
The sandman comes to grant my wish
Thankful, tired orbs shut tight
As I depart from this chaotic world
