I love mythology and this short poem shows that. |
Across the horizon the sun bursts forth Reds and oranges full of warmth, and love. A white unicorn stands watching, Horn glistening with dew, Watching the Dawn with a peaceful expression. Brightly dressed fairies Dance upon emerald fields Delighting in the new day. Puck gaily moves from home to home Undaunted by the bright morn, Much to the horror of each home’s guardian, The elusive Brownie. As a young witch brews her salve Kittens playfully wrestle at her feet. A blue bird lands upon her windowsill And sings of spring and rebirth. A family of the land pray to their gods A ritual they adhere to before working their land, Land that the gods blessed them with. ‘Tis a simple time upon the land, When all could be explained with a story, Gods and goddesses abound. Sing to your hearts content, Give thanks to those who gave you life. Live with love, with compassion, Never forgetting those who gave you such things. Watch the sunrise with awe, With happiness. Helios upon his chariot, Bringing forth the sun, Eos standing to greet her brother. ****** For those of you who don't know, Puck is a mischievous fairy who is also known as Robin Good-fellow. A Brownie is a house elf, they are good nature creatures who preferred solitude but who cared for a home as long as the human inhabitants treated it well. All they really ever asked for was respect, and maybe inclusion in the family. I made 'Dawn' with a capital D because that is what Eos was sometimes called. Helios is the original Sun God, later Apollo was referred to as such. Now, don't quote me on any of this, I'm still learning. :) |
