Krypton Forever |
Her hair is golden. Her eyes steel blue. She is slender and fair. She floats in a transparent pod in Superman's fortrest of solitude. He has always considered cloning a new race. Zorel, his Krypton father had instructed him; "My son I have given you the knowledge to resurrect your people. If you choose to, then humanity will be surpassed by a race of Supermen. A new Krypton will rule the Earth." Jonathan his adopted father had warned him, "With great power comes great responsiblity." Should he abort her? Can he control her and her children? Aproaching the crystals surounding her pod; his hand holds a green crystal in position. A brilliant light fills the chamber. She stands and takes her first breath. "I am Lyla. Your wife." she is a goddess. "What if I told you we weren't married? Would you leave me?" Superman's words echoed in the chamber. Lyla approached him floating over the cystals and into his mighty arms. "I am born for you. I am flesh of your flesh and blood of your blood. I am yours Kal-el." they kiss; her finger run through his black hair. The joining is complete. There will be no need for further clones. But, what of his son from Lois? Could this be a threat? He loves them. Perhaps, there will be a balance. "Your eyes are else where; what troubles you?" Lyla instinctively detects a rival. "I have a mortal wife, who has born me a son." his gaze measures her responce. "What is the alternative? Not as we will, but as Krypton demands. We must think of our race. I will stand with you on a new Krypton." her eyes are steel blue. "So be it." his voice thunders like a God. He dresses her with the shield of Jorel. They stand before the great crystal hall. Jorel appears before them: "My son. You have chosen well. Here now Krypton is reborn. Go out and be fruitfull and multiply. But, do not under estimate the mortals, who would fear you." Kal-el holds and kisses his bride Lyla, "This will be our secret. We will live amongst them as mortals. When the day of our assention comes, the people will love us." Kal-el returned to the Daily Planet as Clark Kent with good news of his marraige to Lisa Cord. She is a Cable News Broadcaster and very blond. Lois is pleased, she is living with the Daily Planet's exuctive publisher Brent. But, she feels a strange sense of loss.+ <S> |
