Sunny and Sam's story. A little something i wrote about a guy i know, and how he feels.
He ran his outstretched fingers down the side of her face. Her milky skin, so cold it sent shivers down his spine, moved smoothly and seamlessly beneath his fingertips. He brushed her lips with his thumb, feeling the last warm breath still lingering slowly then flitting away, a butterfly from a flower, and leant in to kiss them. They were firm beneath his lips, unresponsive and hostile, the cold seeming to emanate from them, driving him away but he could not take his lips from hers, time frozen, the moment never ceasing. He drew away after much contemplation, and lifted her tired body into his arms, her head hanging limply over his arm.
The sky lightened as a beam of distant sunlight struck boldly across the grey plain, and her eyelids twitched and opened. They gazed at him for seconds then closed in submission as he pulled her body closer towards him like a lost child. She buried her head into his neck; he could feel the tickling of her steady breathing and the gentle stroking on the back of his neck where she was playing with his hair. The now pink sky was ever lightening, filling the room with spectrums of colour, reflecting off the mirrors; her hair turning gold in the brightening light, streaks of brown and blonde and silver, an undisturbed waterfall of hair, so tranquil he had to touch it.
She was warm again now, but looked just as peaceful as her formerly sleeping self, skin still pale against the navy blue duvet on which they lay. He ran her fingers through her hair, and she shifted slightly, her head resting more on his shoulder, her hair smelt of cherries and cigarette smoke; unbelievably sexy on her. He kissed her gently on the neck, breathing in her subtle fragrance; he held on tighter, not wanting a moment with her to end.
He caught hold of her hand, and they entwined their fingers, two becoming one, vines wrapping around a tree; Intimacy. He knew he could not hold on forever, he released her slightly, but she did not move away, she wanted him as much as he wanted her. He slowly touched her face again, the way he did when she was sleeping, the same care and gentleness went into his touch as before. He hesitantly moved her chin upwards, encouraging her eyes to meet his before he closed them and he kissed her on the lips, caressing them with such tenderness she seemed to melt into him.
For several moonlit days, it seemed, they lay in each others embrace, and neither wanting to break it, the closeness they shared and how long they had wanted it for. They had longed to feel the others skin against their own, the long awaited embrace, the kiss…
They had been too long separated to be broken apart now. The months spent alone were worth it to him. He would feel no way about another girl in his life. He wanted to tell her how much she meant to him; how much he missed her, how he would go through all of it again to tell her, how he wanted to protect her for the rest of their lives. He was scared.
Scared the one girl he cared about would reject him and not love him in return. He looked deep into her eyes, seeing through them, staring deep into her soul. He relaxed and knew that everything would work out in the end. They had gotten this far hadn’t they?
She looked up at him then, a playful smile full of love and affection traced on her lips.
She murmured words into his ear. They weren’t discernable, but he knew what she said.
“I love you”
