A poem i wrote after reading a book by the same title on capital punishment in America.
The execution protocol kicks in at 12 o'clock,
the prisoner will face his death, brought by electric shock,
He's in the death watch holding cell being offered his last meal,
nobody gave this man the right,a human life to steal,
The execution protocol,to understand it try,
they say that in the bible it's an eye took for an eye,
So therefore if you kill someone,by hand,by gun or knife,
then you must pay,the jury say,the cost must be your life,
The execution protocol kicks in in just a while,
and from his cell, the road to hell,he'll walk that rugged mile,
They strap him to old sparky,he gasps his final breath,
three switches thrown, and all alone,a man is put to death.
