Why do you think my haiku sad? It's life.
Snow Folks Open in new Window. (E)
The grandkids built their audience and now they play.

You think it is sad? Well, it is a sad commentary on American life, but it is the truest piece I have ever written.

The grandkids--when they are small and can't get out to play and run around--love the grandparents and pay so much attention to them. Then, when they start playing sports and having dances and all the things that go along with juniors and teens, grandparents are forgotten unless the grandparents come to them. Forget going to see the grandparents, especially when there is a game to be played on Saturday and the 3.5 hours drive is too much for them.....65-year-old granny is the one expected to doing all the going. GIve me a break!

There's plenty of sad poetry on this site. Why pick on this poem?
