My Own Hand to Hold


Wrapping every tendril around each other

Tracing the curves and separated spaces of pure loneliness

The quick dips and twists of bone and skin

And the daring white of a smooth, silk gloss

I hold my own hand when no one else will

I grip my pain when it threatens to burn and smother

Within a passionate moment, I may break skin and ooze

The blood of existence

The escapre of being

Quick release of sin and depressive, suppressive thoughts to conquer

And yet, my firm stance will be left unchained

For I will continue to pamper, preen and press that hand of mine

Until it shatters amongst a sticky paste

Or, may the time come when someone will take their hand into my own

And my silent stance may be offered up into eternity

And yet, I will not cease my breath

Moments will pass and I will continue on without such

For I can remain in my own company

Sheltering this hand until the time is pronounced ready

Until the pain has stopped bubbling under my core

And my blood stays residing deep beneath my skin

Soon these healing days will finally be put to rest

In a coffin built for the past

Then, this hand may be taken for some other

For, this hand was created for its perfect partner

It's ideal, glove-fit

My temporary pair this other frigid, empty hand of mine

Filled with the bone of my presenceless mind

Cries out in shame and guilt

For, it knows the days are numbered until warmth will be graced down upon it

The rightful position to be drawn, composed and found with verity

But, until such a day, this will do

Yes, I will do

And it will only be sweeter existence when this broken hand of mine will be rebuilt

And finally fulfilled
