Out of Blackness

Out of blackness I am born
Ignored by many but cherished by few
Something to dream upon by lovers
A guiding light to those at sea
Born of rock and dust
Blackness forever surrounds me
Alone I am insignificant
Joined by others I have meaning
For billions of years I have lived
For many more I shall endure
My world of blackness is vast and wide
I appear close but I am far
Mortality is nothing for me
For I shall one day die
The soul within me shall dim with time
My light will slowly disappear
From me another shall be reborn
To be all that I have been before
