Rufus the Hero ( A True Poem/Story)

This happened in January of 2009 in Broomfield Colorado.

Amanda went to the park on a warm day;
Rufus the yellow lab was eager to play.
As the frisbee flew and hovered through the air,
Amanda noticed two dog-like creatures stare.

She did not think they would cause her any harm;
Then grimaced as a coyote bit her arm.
Rufus the dog heard Amanda's frantic scream,
Then abandoned the toy and attacked the team.

The smaller beast tried to block Rufus away
But the loyal lab dog refused the delay.
Rufus battled hard with a valiant desire;
He took on both coyotes with teeth of fire.

The labrador became a hero that day;
He won the fight and chased the wild thugs away.
He returned to Amanda to guard with pride;
The rest of the day he would not leave her side.
