How would you feel if YOU were locked in a tower?
(Written January of 2007)

Hmmmmm….

I’m a warrior princess locked in a tower.  I’m a warrior princess locked in a tower with NOTHING to do.  I’m a warrior princess locked in a tower with nothing to do and my patience is running thin.  Why do you ask?  Because my prince charming is sitting there on his perfectly white horse and his brilliantly shining armor, telling me that I should just jump out my tower window into the nonexistent bushes that he think should break my fall.  He isn’t even offering to get off his damn horse and try to catch me.

OK first off, logically, for me to jump out of this tower window would be certain death.  The window is at least 150 ft in the air.  Is he blind or something?  Maybe he’s thinking that I’ll just walk out the front door.  He might think that would work perfectly.  The problem with that is the door is locked.  From the OUTSIDE!!!  I look down at him again from my window.  He’s still on his damn horse!!!!  Now he’s serenading me, telling me how amazing I am.  Is this guy all talk? Is he ever going to get off that damn white horse and knock down this door that has me trapped up here?  There isn’t a dragon to fight here; no wicked stepmothers or witches, but he’s too worried about breaking his precious nails or his foot on entry.  He’s being a WUSS!!!!!  (Excuse: what about women’s lib!!!! (in a whiney voice to boot) Shouldn’t women do this type of thing too?!?!)  And he’s trying to change the subject… jolly good times.  I’m going to be 50 before this guy decides whether or not I’m worth fighting for.  I need to know that I’m worth the question he’s trying so desperately to avoid.  That damn tower door may not even be locked, but I don’t know. All I know is that I can’t open it.  He isn’t even trying to…  and so I’m doomed to an eternity of waiting.  I can’t fight with him till he lets me out.  I want to be rescued so that I can protect and be protected; so that I can ride by his side into battle.  But…All I can do from here, in my tower, is point at the bad guys or maybe throw rocks, and that’s not good enough.
