Emptiness



The mirror reflected the image of my despair.
An empty face, why should I care

Lost moments I never knew
Many dreams, emotions few

Distant faith, imaginary trust
Deceiving honesty, immoral lust

Anger and rage protected the wall
The gift of grace, made it fall

I could have been someone earlier in life
If only my emptiness didn’t cause so much strife

If only sooner, I knew of his love
I could have excelled far above

Remove the bricks and feel the pain
For grace is the answer, if I am to gain
