chapter two in the funny but action filled adventure. (rough draft)
                                        Chapter 2

“Sarah!” Bethany screamed pulling her back into the room, “It, but, how, worked?!?”

Brian and Gary sat on her bed with their mouths open in shock and amazement. The girls lay on the floor by the door.

“Calibeara, the rain forest of Stekaria.” She said to herself.

They all looked at Sarah with wide eyes. Her eyes were just as amazed, just as scared and just as excited.

Running around the house collecting all their supplies and putting it in a book bag they could hardly breathe. The gang’s hearts were pounding in their chests; they couldn’t believe this was happening to them. They were excited and terrified for this to begin.

When they finished packing up all their supplies they stood by the door again.

“Okay girls, big, strong Brian will lead the way.” He said puffing himself out. The girls and Gary rolled their eyes at him and his arrogance.

“Brian,” Bethany said smacking him on the head, “It’s not that I don’t think you could do it…but I think Sarah should lead this.”

“Oh! That reminds me!” Sarah interjected and grabbed her book off the floor, “Can’t forget the map.”

“Sarah…does that book have a hero?” Gary asked.

“Er, yes, Gary it does, but, erm, on the last page he went off sailing for new places to help because Stekaria was peaceful.”

Brian scoffed, “yeah, totally peaceful.”

“Can I see that last page?” Gary questioned, grabbing for the book.

Slapping his hand away Sarah put the book in her bag.

“No. Let’s go.” She stated. She wouldn’t have minded showing the book to Gary for proof but she’d drawn a heart on that page and had a line that said, “Sailing to meet Me.” by it. She didn’t need him seeing that.

The group carefully and cautiously stepped out of her room and she closed the door. It shimmered like wooden water, glittered into a million pieces then disappeared.

Stuck in Stekaria now the group trekked onward hoping to find the end of the dense forest they walked into.

“That door will come back later right?” Gary asked tripping over a vine for the fifth time.

“It’d better.” Brian said.

“It will.” Sarah assured.

“Good.”

When he finished talking Gary clambered over the same log his friends had a second ago. Planting his foot onto it, for it was a huge felled tree; he went to use a limb to pull himself up. Putting all his weight on the one foot, trying to get his other foot over it, he feel through the log and the branch he grabbed broke. He yelped as he fell backwards. With his foot caught he landed with a thud.

“Ow…I’m okay.” He squeaked, “ow, er, help, guys, please.”

Laughing Sarah climbed back over the log and began to pull his foot out.

“We should put you in a plastic bubble.” She giggled, “At least then you won’t get killed!”

“Better yet just leave him here.” Brian suggested.

“Quit being mean Brian.” Sarah scowled, ‘Or I’ll flip you again.”

His face went blank and he took two steps away. She had really flipped him twice, both when they’d just met. Brian had been following his brother and her around secretly. He couldn’t believe Gary had found a girl that liked him. Well when she found him she called him a creep and flipped him. When she found out they were brothers she’d called him a jerk and flipped him again.

“You wouldn’t dare.” He said serious.

“I would and I could.” She stated then Gary was free from the log and she helped him over it.

As they continued to walk the humidity level of the forest was really taking its toll. Everyone was sweaty, red cheeked and could hardly breathe the soupy air.

“I, need, to stop!” Bethany gasped. She leaned against her also tired boyfriend and the two toppled over. They didn’t move from where they fell on the ground in a heap.

“Ow.” Brian mumbled.

“sorry.” Bethany said, “This place is horrible! And Sarah….I need to, er, pee.”

Faster then lightning Brian was out from under her and standing by Gary. His black hair shined with sweat as he looked at her.

“Go find a tree but don’t go on me.”

Huffing she got up and looked at Sarah, “Couldn’t you call that door back so I could go there?”

“No, Sorry.”

Bethany stomped her foot, “But I’ve gotta pee! Brian grow wings and take me to her bathroom.”

“Sure, what color wings? Purple or green polka dotted?” He said sarcastically.

“I’m not going to pee in a tree….and now I’m hungry for wings.”

Brian pretended to pull something off his back, “Well here, eat mine.” He said causally.

There was a moment of silence that followed his weird comment then all four of them went into hysterics. A moment later Bethany ran off into the trees unable to hold it in.
