This is a poem I wrote way back in 1986. I think it still holds it's own
What price happiness?
A price you can't afford.
Yet still we pursue this feeling
As though it were the greatest reward.

They say that love's the only way
To find true happiness.
So, why do we keep fighting for
A life that makes no sense?

Bloodstains, speed kills
Fast cars, cheap thrills.
I lost my sense, I lost control,
I lost my mind

Things seem so much different now,
The scene has died away
I haven't got a steady job,
And I got no place to stay.

My friends and family
Have turned their backs on me.
I've tried so fucking hard,
Why can't they just see?

Bloodstains, speed kills
Fast cars, cheap thrills.
I lost my sense, I lost control,
I lost my mind.

The wind blows hard
Up on the fifty-fourth floor.
Tears stream down my face,
I can't take this shit anymore.

I close my eyes,
And spread my arms wide.
As the wind whistles past my ears,
I finally feel free inside.

Bloodstains.....
