A poem about going camping!
Camping Out.

We looked forward to it all week long.

It's a chance to escape everything that’s wrong,

We packed our gear with care,

Bringing just a few things to wear.

Food, blankets cots,

Pots, lanterns, tents, just a whole lot,

A flashlight or two,

matches, and mulligan stew.

Load up our stuff and pull away in our truck,

Hoping for no bad luck.

As we drive far away,

To stay in the woods,

With all our canned goods.

Onto a dirt road,

To a place we can abode.

Far far away with lots of trees,

That sway in the gentle breeze.

Finally we stop,

Then a soda pop.

Next we set up camp,

Light up the gas lamp,

Gather some fire wood,

Eat a packaged good.

Set around the camp fire,

Tell ghost stories until we retire,

Into our tent.

At night all will be quiet,

Except for a hoot owl,

And the crickets sounds.

Night animals scurrying around.

The fresh air is always great,

The next day we’ll get some bait,

Try fishing in the lake,

Hoping we don’t see a snake.

For supper it will be round steak,

And maybe some cake.

Camping out is always fun,

Until we run out of hamburger buns.

We'll stay until it gets old,

Then time to fold and break camp.

By then we’ll need a hot shower,

And fresh deodorant that smells like flowers.

Medicine for the bug bites,

Clean clothes and electric lights!

It will be refreshing to get back home again,

Sleep in a soft bed.

Munch on some fresh bread.

Massage the shoulder from swinging the axe head,

Remembering how it was when bugs,

Were flying around our ears.

Just like the frontier.
