THE WEE FOLK Time for a celebration and the wearin' of the green! Let me tell you a tale about the wee folk I've seen. You may think it's a bit of blarney but I swear it's true, the wee folk have a pot o' gold and it is found by few. We had a bit of rain but the sun came out to shine and along with that, a rainbow, with colors devine! I almost stepped upon the lad, dressed all in green but he leaped to one side, hoping he was not seen. I knew that if I caught him, he had to give up his gold so I pursued the little one who looked to be very bold. Quick as a wink, I grabbed him by his green britches, and I laughed so hard, his wailing put me in stiches! "Don't weep" I said, "there's naught I want from you but a blessing and perhaps, a shamrock or two. You can keep your gold, but won't you let me see a parade of the leprechauns, if the wee folk agree!" "Put me down and I'll grant your wish for a parade, you'll find plenty shamrocks growing in the shade!" With that promise, I set him down and let him flee - I sat on the turf to wait, a parade would come to me! The wee folk are a crafty lot, but this one kept his word, the laughter of a thousand leprechauns soon was heard! As they passed by, they tipped their hats with a smile, and gave me a shamrock to wear, so I would be in style! I love the hills of Ireland and i will not forget the day I caught myself a leprechaun, then let him get away. The memories of the wee folk will live on forevermore; I'll think of them whenever there's a rainbow on the moor. HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! Countrymom 3/11/09 , |
