A poetic account of the death of Christ.
John 15:12

They came in the night,
Armed for a fight.
There was not a man that could stand,
When He answered their demand.

They led Him away.
Because He chose not to stay.
And after a mile,
Held a make believe trial.

He said He spoke not a word,
Except what they'd heard.
They paid men to lie.
Judge said, He must die.

So the took Him to a Roman
Whose wife had an omen.
He wanted to let Him go.
The people all cried no.

But no one has He wronged!
For His blood the people longed.
So he let the people choose.
Barabbas, for the King of the Jews.

He asked,  what shall be done,
To your gods only son?
They cried “Crucify! Crucify!”
And this he didn't deny.

In His face they spit,
And with sticks they hit.
Then a crown of torn,
And His head was torn.

They pulled the bread from His chin.
From His back they ripped the skin.
A cross He carried up that hill,
And there they did more still.

His hands and feet they nailed.
All while his followers wailed.
He finally died
So they pierced His side.

The sky went black.
The Earth began to crack.
And when His blood was spent.
The temple curtain was rent.

My Sister and My Brother,
He said “Love one another.”
“Just as I have loved you.”
He loved all the way through.

In love with you, In love with me.
Is why He hung upon that tree!
Now I truly hope you can  see.
This is what He wants us to be.
