The manifestations of love. A honest look of a simple man as he adds to a relationship. |
For the day someone loves me It will be... not for my potential and not for my career not for my gifts of eyes and hair or stocks and bonds held so dear. not for who my father is or for whom I'll someday be or for the conveyance with a very fancy ribboned key. Not for where went to school or whom my friends might be or lies that tell you things that you will never see But for this one moments timelessness the day will be like thus That I will mow the lawn so well but not without a fuss I will cook your favorite food and burn it not too much when you are ill I will wake you up with my constant touch I'll wash your clothes and some of them, maybe will survive Ask me to wash your dog and when done he will be alive If you need a handyman to give a manly touch I'll bend not too many nails while building your angels hutch But I will be there every time you need me in the clutch If you expect me to arrive at say eight or nine if I am late I will call every goddamn time If you are sad my arms will be as strong as you will need And if you crave me I will feed your soul till sated deep and if I say I love you so, It's a promise I will keep. For the day someone loves me If you want a perfect man I will write a book But I hope the best that I can do Will earn me a second look Forgiveness Forgetfulness Faith or a lie for a decent, faithful, loving girl I'll give it my best try |
