** Image ID #1544391 Unavailable ** Across the lapping surf beneath the sun, On ever moving waters, shimmers drift Allowed to coast or crest and fall or run A hint of sea upon the breeze will lift And tease my soul that gazes out, Motionless, Like the concrete quay below my feet And the pillar that holds my restless head A sudden gushing wave then breaks beside Where misty sprays emit and touch my skin Awakened spirit, once again I shift, Inspired to live in freedom’s fluid bliss Form: Dorsimbra Comprised of three stanzas, each a different form. Stanza #1: Shakespearean/Sicilian Sonnet style (4 lines, rhymed abab, in iambic pentameter) Stanza #2: 4 lines of free verse Stanza #3: 4 lines of Blank Verse (unrhymed but metrical in iambic pentameter) The form was created by three writers associated with Sol Magazine and they suggest using certain poetic devices, like enjambment, near rhymes, and internal rhymes to bind the three different stanzas together into one solid poetic piece. http://www.poetrybase.info/forms/000/84.shtml ***information borrowed from "Invalid Item" |
