An 8 year old's perspective about her dad in Iraq.
Daddy, why 'd you go?
I saw you leave on a bus in a camouflage uniform.
I remember that much.

Daddy, will you write to me?
I await your letters, hoping that they continue to come.
I worry that much.

Daddy, when are you coming home?
I watch Momma cry when she talks to you on the phone.
I see that much.

Daddy, will you ever be home again to shoot hoops with me?
I wish I could play basketball with you in the driveway.
I know that much.

Daddy, are you coming home?
I see men on the news wearing the same clothes that you do who won't.
I watch that much.

Daddy, will you come and wipe away my tears?
I cry some nights before I go to bed.
I miss you that much.
