Sweat

Human behavior can be fascinating.  Think about sweat.  Are you embarrassed when you sweat?  Yes, you say?  But, what is sweat?  It's a normal, everyday bodily function.  Everybody sweats.  So what's up with the feelings of embarrassment?  If conditions are such that you are sweating, more than likely, the person to your left is sweating as is the person to your right.  Each of you, sitting there silently suffering in embarrassment as the droplets of water stream down your face.  How interesting is that! 

So I'm out in 90 degree sweltering humid heat and I'm dancing with 2 to 3 hundred other gyrating bodies on a plywood dance floor.  The syncopated beat keeps us boogieing along despite the heat of the day.  We're all sweating.  My hair is plastered to my scalp; I'm drenched in sweat.  Even my undies are wet with perspiration.  Really attractive, don't you agree?  But, I'm not alone in this perspiring crowd.  A new dance partner approaches for a dance.  You could literally, wring the sweat out of his shirt.  Smiling, I reach my hand out to accept the dance invitation.  He turns toward me, shyly apologizing for being so wet.  Does he think he's the only wet dancer on this dance floor?  I say, "I’m too wet to notice, let's dance." 

Think about this for a minute.  He's just asked a woman, who is as drenched in sweat as he is, to dance.  He's embarrassed that he's wet, but totally overlooking that his partner is just as wet.  Kind of silly, isn't it?  Plus, it's a frequent occurrence to sweat when you are dancing so energetically.  Sweat is no stranger to those of us in the dance community.  If your not sweating, you're not dancing enough so what are you doing there?  We're all in this together.  Enjoy your friends, boogie on, smile, have fun and have a good sweat.  Bet you never thought sweating could be so much fun.  Try it!  Get out there and sweat as if you don't have a care in the world.
