For Stormy Lady |
Hot town, summer in the city Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty Been down, isn't it a pity Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city All around, people looking half dead Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head Lovin Spoonful "Summer In The City lyrics" 86 degrees in the Louisiana shade, We happily wander the sidewalks, embarked on a French Quarter crusade, listening to crowds chatter and talk. Horns barking in air, humidity weighed, we are swept along in a flock with no desire to escape the culture, of New Orleans all decadent and pure. On balconies, yelling waving ladies call to flocks of young smiling men, strutting along, muscular in tight tees. We are visitors in a dragon's den, spit out from buses or mercedes, to mix with the party crowds again. New Orleans, I love you so much, and I live for your hot touch. It is another hot Louisiana day, the kind that seeps into your soul, slowly taking inhibition away, as among the partiers we stroll. I wish in New Orleans I could stay. The French Quarter makes me whole, but alas I must again head north, wave goodbye to indulgence, sally forth. But at night it's a different world Go out and find a girl Come-on come-on and dance all night Despite the heat it'll be alright And babe, don't you know it's a pity That the days can't be like the nights In the summer, in the city In the summer, in the city Lovin Spoonful "Summer In The City lyrics" Stormylady Poetry Contest: Use the words - crowds barking horns chatter yelling buses escape sidewalks in a poem. |
