Just having fun with a topic that happens to me all the time.
Day Dream

Rambling on, the teacher’s talk
They scratch on boards with dusty chalk
A pencil hovers o’r my book
I slouch down low so she won’t look

And see me doodle out my name
Surrounded by a heart shaped frame
I’ve tried to listen with intent
But my ears are full, I am spent

My gaze drifts blankly across the room
The clock slows down in the afternoon
When lunch is full within my belly
Soy butter sandwiches with jelly

My heart beats slow; a cadence rhyme
Lulling senses, one beat at a time
My eyes roll up, inside my head
Their lids both droop and fall like lead

In and out my breath is steady
My head is back and feeling heavy
Grumble in and burble out
My chin has dropped into a pout

My mind is loose. It’s on the run
Now I’m able to have some fun
I head towards my backyard stream
I’m free to roam inside this dream

The hammock’s stretched out in the sun
My socks are off. My homework’s done
The frosted mug I carry near
Is filled with ice and cold root beer

“Hey!” I turned around to see
Who it was that called to me
A boy my age with tousled hair
Bright green eyes his chest lay bare

His curious smile roused my glance
Self-assured he took advance
He held my gaze, procured my cup
Brought to his lips, he sipped it up

And closer still he drew to me
His root beer lips sent chills through me
He kissed me hard. His lips pressed mine
I scarcely breathed. It felt divine.

Wheeze and rumble, putter, SNORT
My head tilt forward quick and short
My eyes wide open, my focus dizzy
Recall blurred, my thoughts a tizzy

I straightened up within my chair
Wiped off the drivel pooled in my hair
The blathering sounds of distant drone
Had stopped and I was not alone

A class of same age kids that day
Sat glaring pitifully my way
A blush of heat rushed to my head
That moment I wished I were dead

From that day forth I made a rule
To never close my eyes in school
But starring at the distant wall
I dreamt of him, green eyes and all.
