What Mary might have felt as Jesus was hung on the cross. |
What would you do if your son was the Son of God? Would you wonder if he would live so long in a world that could do him so much harm? Could you stand to watch him grow up, only to die a brutal death? Would you be there to watch him struggle to take another painful breath? Would you cry when you saw him whipped and beaten until his face even you didn't know, dying for something you knew he would as you helped him to grow? Would you think it is possible that he could save so many when he can't save himself from the hatred of his enemies? What would you do when you see the blood run down his face? Would you cry for him and pray that he can fill an empty space inside the hearts of millions like it is written? Or would you simply give up hope when you see him unfairly smitten? When you see the cross that he carries down the street would you fall, would you crawl, over to his feet? Would you do what you could to save him from the crowds? Or could you only cry and stare up at the clouds? Would you wonder if god was there and would make things right? Or would you put your faith far out of sight? What would you be thinking when they put the nails in his hands? Would you fall to your knees and bury your face in the sand? And would you spread the message to the world so that they might understand? When he calls out to his Father to forgive those against him could you force out a slow and mournful hymn? Would you remember this is where the new world begins and that no one has to go through this again? And when he finally dies and his spirit is gone, could you forgive the men who were so wrong? The world won't have to suffer for very long Because your son is the Son of God. |
