A piece of poetry about someone struggling to clarify certain boundries.
I'm not your dolly.
No, you can't play with me.
Don't tell me when to run or when to eat.
You can't tell me how to feel and why:
That's what I decide.
I'm allowed to pick my own dresses;
I need to decide what I want to wear.
No, I will never be like you.
Yes, you can curse and swear.

I let you walk all over me,
because you were the boss it seemed...

I wanted so much to please you;
my happiness drained as I tried.
The thought lurking in my mind being:
It might just work this time
Your opinion shouldn't matter,
not for better,
or for worse.

Don't make faces at me!
My feelings are justified.
Every last one, two, three, four, five

I'm not your dolly.
No, you can't play with me.
Do I look like Raggedy Ann?
I gave her up at three.

Do you deceive me, or do you really care?
It doesn't really matter..
at least it really shouldn't.
The next time I glance in the mirror,
I'll no longer look through your eyes.

I have my own brain; I have my own eyes;
I have my own limbs and I have my own style.

So, no.
I'm not your dolly.
No, you can't play with me.
I'm definitely not Barbie.
I'm not as perfect as she, you see.

Instead, I declare myself a free person
I cannot feel as you demand.
I'll just silently take my leave.
I hope that you'll understand.
