a poem relating to the awkwardness of sharing friends with an ex lover |
Things that I can and cannot say around you I can say hi when I see you But I cannot say that my heart burst with excitement. I can say goodbye when it is time to part ways But I cannot say that I never want to see you go. I can say that you look great But I cannot say that you are the most beautiful woman that I have ever laid eyes on. I can say that you have a great sense of humor But I cannot say that I want to spend all day laughing with and at you. I can say that you love to go for walks But I cannot say that if I had the chance at one more walk with you I would walk and walk and never stop just to be in your company. I can say that you are an amazing teacher But I cannot say that your passion for teaching makes me admire and envy you beyond belief. I can say that you make me smile But I cannot say that when you make me smile I smile on the inside a trillion times bigger and brighter than the smile on the outside. I can say that I think about you from time to time But I cannot say that by “time to time” I do mean all the time and that I am incredibly sad because I miss you. I can say that we one day will be friends But I cannot say that I want to be more than friends. I can say that we used to be boyfriend and girlfriend But I cannot say that I miss those days more than anything in the world and would give anything to have them back. I can say that you are special to me But I cannot say that I care about you so much that my blood boils thinking about how much you mean to me. And I definitely cannot say that I love you and always will. |
