Just laughin', and singin' in the rain...
When I was a child,
my people and their ways
seemed a sturdy fabric.
Most of the time,
I didn’t even realize it rained.

But now, that umbrella
is a tattered wire skeleton.
It rains all of the time.
I lift my face
and set a grin
against the pelting.
