Good-night |
Sometimes we easily feel we're all alone.... even in Someplace we lovingly had once called our home... even when Surrounded by faces we've known In such familiar places we've grown Tired of fighting, tired of crying... Or maybe just tired of trying. Without light we lose our way. Into the wild we start to stray, Fearful of what secrets shadows keep, Too troubled by the night to go to sleep. We may love in vain 'till we wished we were numb... even though We might not always like the person we become... even slow changes Can fracture once lifelong vows- Can leave us soon wondering how What we cradled could now be gone... When we just wanted to hold on. Without light we lose our way. Restless, we refuse to stay, Waiting for the dawn to guide us home, So, blind, we issue into the unknown. Without light we lose our way. Into the wild we start to stray Further from the womb of home, Fearing that we've gone too far To come back inside. You are a light Unto yourself. And without you I just lose my way, Grow so tired of the games that I play, Knowing restless hearts rarely sleep- And spoken promises rarely keep. But I give this lullaby Without clause, my dear child. Darkness passes, so will I Whisper goodnight but never goodbye. And if you ever lose your way- Grow tired of the games you play- Never feel alone or feel afraid For ever open my arms... will remain. |
