Babysitters Nightmare
“If I die before I wake”

“Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray my soul, the lord will take.” The children prayed, bent over there beds. I stood there waiting, and watched the kids go to lay down. I leave the door cracked open a little, just like the mother had told me. I then walk downstairs and sit on the couch.

I am tired from chasing kids around all day. I turn on the TV and pull the phone down onto the nearby ground. Parents liked to call to check on the children. I lay down, making my self comfortable. I slowly fall asleep, my eye lids feeling like lead. Slowly… shutting… until… I am… asleep.

I awake some time latter. I sit up and see the time. 10:21. I will have to be here until 11:00. Great. I look at the TV absent mindedly. Colorful images rushing my brain quickly. Crap, I have a head ache. Then the phone rings.

“Hello?” I ask, brining the receiver to my mouth. My speech is slurred due to me still being half asleep.

“Check on the kids Sandra.” says a unfamiliar voice. It was a cold male voice, and it knew my name. I start to ask who her is, but then the phone clicks off.

“Crap.” I said. The hairs on my arms are standing up. I am very disturbed now. I layback down, trying to relax. Now I am on edge for a unknown threat. It is scary, this new unknown thrown into my life.

I wait for the children’s parents return. As soon as that door opens, I am running…. But wait. How do I know that was not just a prank call? A mean trick.

This thought carries me to 10:53. I have all my stuff packed and am ready to go when the phone rings. I pick it up.

“Sandra. Check on the kids.” the same male voice says.

“Fine!” I yell, fed up. I turn off the phone and walk up the stairs. Quickly. Quicker. Fast. FASTER.

I stop at there door, and grab on to the doorknob. I slowly turn it and walk in. Blood covers the walls. Intestines cover the ground. 4 legs, 4 arms, 2 torsos and 2 heads. The kids where torn to pieces. The innocent children where dead on my watch….

And all I could thinks about was there prayer. “IF I DIE BEFORE I WAKE”
