A myriad of gold and white sparkles danced on the surface of the water as the sun sank lower in the brightly-colored sky. The horizon was fiery orange shot through with cotton candy pink, and dotted here and there with slowly drifting clouds of dark blue.
The sand on the beach was still warm from a day in the sun’s intense gaze; it coated my bare legs in a fine layer, and I brushed it off half-heartedly.
The sun was nearly gone now. Where it’s last bright rays touched the water’s surface, all was turned to molten gold.
A single star twinkled in the darkening sky, peeping out from behind the wandering clouds.
The sun dipped below the horizon, a gentle breeze chasing the last bit of it’s rays’ warmth from my skin.
