Oklahoma City bombing, 1995
OKC,  19 APRIL

The black rose cartwheels
And settles on my breast
Like a crow on a freeway.
Dying wasn't easy, and
The smell of sulphur awakens me to
A coil of perpetual death.
Molten tears stream
Down my cheeks and
Turn to ash as I
Fix my gaze on a dead
Cat hanging from the
Poplar tree nine yards away.
"Mommie!  Tuck me in!"
