What I learned talking to my muses
I want to write some poetry, so I'm looking for a Muse.
I happen to know a few of them, I hope they don't refuse
Maybe they can tell me and remove all of my doubt,
what it is in this world, that I should write about.

Should it be a humorous one or should it have a serious tone.
One that brings tears to your eyes or tickles your funny bone.
Should it be about a beloved pet or something I hold dear.
Whichever one they choose, I hope they make it very clear.

My 1st Muse, Joan, tells me my poem should be sweet and full of love.
It should give a doubting couple a tender little shove.
Elaine, my 2nd Muse, says write something about beauty,
maybe it will bring someone joy, she feels it is my duty.

Kathy, my Muse number three, says I should write about a pet.
There are plenty of animals you haven't written about yet.
Kelly, the final Muse, says write one of those scary ones.
One that is so scary, it will give people the runs.

I have decided to write a poem that's very funny.
I don't need to tell you it is going to be punny.
Each Muse says something different, it really sounds confusing,
I just have to laugh it off, to me it's just a Musing
