A short poem about a horse, written for a contest entry.
Freedom Song

You stand silently,
as if there's something
you wanted to say.
Your thoughts spring.

Your coat is sleek.
Visible brawn to all.
Strong and dark,
memoirs of the fall.

Your eyes are cold,
weak and splintered.
Obsession speaks
cold you weathered.

I brush you to tip,
yet you only ponder
the fields of happy
in wilds of summer.

Tears welt your eyes
in each stroke of life,
renewed and divine.
Freedom from strife.

Run wild horse! Run!
Set your soul free.
Untamed, unleashed.
Run wild horse! Flee!
