A nasal epic |
Hanging around, quite jobless Innocent, minding my own Though awake, blissfully blank Not fearing what was not known First warning of what's to come: A sensation small and strange Felt somewhere deep up my nose Well beyond my fingers’ range Body reacts before brain A tide of air is sucked in All my might feels dammed up there Can it somehow be held in? But resistance is futile With tremors like great earthquakes And grander sound than thunder The nostrils' hapless dam breaks In a show of divine wrath The rebellious denizens Are cast out through the nostrils For causing nasal nuisance After the epic's climax I lie dazed with shock and awe Head as empty as my lungs Few deep breaths I have to draw Blimey! What a sneeze that was. It's shaken me to the core Uh oh, what is that I feel? God save me. Here comes one more! Written for "POETRY IN RHYME - RHYTHM CONTEST-winner" . 7 syllables per line.
