One father's fight to let no food item, no matter how old, go to waste.
Bad Food

By: Thomas Cannon

1.Picture of obviously-ill daddy.

2.Dedication Page: “To my mother, Tressie, who from a young age fostered in me a love of learning and at this very moment has at least ten expired items in her refrigerator.”

3.Title Page

4.My daddy will eat anything.

5.He’s eaten foods from all over the world, like Mexico...and China...

6.…and France…and Germany, too.

7.My daddy loves to eat.

8.He also does not like to waste food.

9. He says, “Money is tight,” and “Food doesn't just grow on trees!”

10.What about bananas?

11.Daddy agreed that bananas grow on trees.

12.When food gets too old, it becomes “expired” or “bad.”

13.Even though daddy tries his best, sometimes our food still goes bad.

14.On Sunday, we got back from a long trip to Aunt Alice's house.

15.When we came home, a lot of our food had expired.

16.Daddy did not want mommy to throw the bad food away.

17.“I'll eat it,” he said.

18. Silly daddy.

19. Daddy made an omelette for breakfast. He started with one glass of yellow orange juice.

20.He got two slices of white cheddar cheese.

21.He cracked three black eggs.

22.He cut up four pieces of green ham.

23.“See? That wasn't so bad,” Daddy said. I don't think he really meant it.

24.For lunch, daddy made sandwiches. He pulled out five pieces of crusty, brown bread.

25. He sliced up six purple tomatoes.

26.He put on seven circles of blue bologna.

27.Then he squirted eight globs of orange mustard.

28.“That could have been worse,” Daddy said. “I don't see how,” Mommy said.

29.For dinner, daddy was not feeling well, but he would not give up. He finished the last nine gray olives and ten red pieces of beef jerky.

30. Poor Daddy.

31.On Monday, Daddy took the day off.
