summary about a proclamation by President Barack Obama
Office of the Press Secretary. (2010, January 15). Presidential proclamation-Religious freedom day. Retrieved January 18, 2010, from http://www.whithouse.gov/the-press-office/presidential-proclamation-religious-fr...

Topic-Executive- The executive branch of the government is the office of the president. The president’s responsibilities include making proclamations, introducing legislation, and commanding the military.

Summary:

Who: The proclamation is from President Barack Obama.

What: The proclamation restates the freedom of religion in the United States of America. It states January 16, 2010 as Religious Freedom Day, and it encouraged the practice of religious expression on that day.

Where: It does not say where the proclamation took place, but only that it was issued by the white house.

When: The proclamation was announced and released on January 15, 2010.

Why: President Obama (2010) said it is a proclamation “to teach us a bout this critical foundation of our Nation’s liberty, and show us how we can protect it for future generations here and around the world.”

My reaction. I am comforted by the proclamation, because of a statement he made earlier in his presidency that said America should be a Muslim nation. I think this proclamation is a good suck up to religious America, and a step to strengthen our freedoms in America. The fact that he reinforced the constitution and the Bill of Rights shows the continuing power of both documents. It is my hope that religious expression continues in the US.
