(PLZ REVIEW! even if it like 2 lines thanks :D )

I tried to concentrate only on the soft crunching of dry leaves as I trudged along the cracked grey pavement, wincing and ducking my head as the cars slowed down as soon as the people inside them caught sight of me. London life was dull and miserable. So were its people. Everyday, as I caught the bus to school, as I came back, everywhere I went, I could feel the stares boring into my back. It wasn't at all pleasant. It was the men, mostly. It wasn't because I was pretty, or because I was ugly, fat or even wore the wrong clothes. No, it was because I was beautiful. Far, far too beautiful. The females did it too, their faces plastered in foundation and sparkly pink stuff, their eyes fluttering fake lashes. Hadn't they ever heard of natural beauty? I guess not. I dodged around a tall slender woman pushing her pram, and I could see so clearly on her face- which was also spoilt by that greasy beige stuff- and hear as she gasped that she would give anything for my features, my hair, my body. And, even though she would think I was clearly mad, I would also give anything for hers. As I walked away, I could hear that the pram had skidded to a stop and the baby had started to wail. She barely even noticed. It was as if I had a neon sign above my head with arrows flashing at me and reading: look at me, look at me! I pushed my feet forward quicker, picking up pace, moving faster and faster, until eventually I was running. Sprinting, even. My hair flew out behind me. I was running, away from home, away from the cars, away from the woman and her baby and every other dull and grey person in this grey place. Trouble was, London was huge, so I obviously didn't have a clue where I was going. I wasn't exactly sure what I was running away from, either. I know, you must think I was mad to run away simply because there wasn't anywhere I went without people babbling excitedly or whispering enviously. Some even took pictures. I was just self-conscious, I suppose. No, it was because life at home was starting to get weird. My parents-Raymond and Jenaide- were a sweet couple, but they weren't exactly my real parents. They had found me. Surrounded by fire and ashes and- and they were getting old, and I was only fourteen and growing rapidly. They found it hard to keep with me. Raymond was actually seventy-two, and Jenaide sixty-eight. They were old enough to be my grandparents. I should really give them some space-
"WATCH OUT!!!" yelled a voice.
