Winter Symphony

the ice sings its song
discordant notes of ending
winter's symphony concludes

an icy embrace
a chorus of pain joins in
Darwin seems to have been wrong

Form: The Sedoka is an unrhymed poem made up of two three-line katauta with the following syllable counts: 5/7/7, 5/7/7. A Sedoka, pair of katauta as a single poem, may address the same subject from differing perspectives. Katauta is an unrhymed three-line poem the following syllable counts: 5/7/7.

Verse 1 is written in Haiku (emphasis on nature) and verse 2 in Senryu (emphasis on the human element). Each stands alone but together, provide differing views on the same subject.
