fantasy, imagination is what keeps me young, join me on my ride to wackiness.
growing up was so full of imaginations of ogres, pixies, gnomes, hobbits, goblins, they all lived in the bed of my mind. was weird to the rest but very normal to me and a safe place to be while growing up in africa. Mama!! she is speaking to the pixies again!! my baby sister would yell, and i would smile and whisper to her its just my ogre friend from the blue hills. mama thought something was wrong with me for the longest time, but kept brushing it aside as silly childhood phase, was it a phase or was it really my reality?? mama just went on with her chores, but every now and then she would glance my way to make sure am not having a full blown conversation with my "imaginary friends" like she puts them. moody came running around the corner excited to tell me about his mom and sisters cooking flatbreads tonight at their home for supper, Now flatbread is a big deal to all kids, especially when made for no festive occasion, its a big, let me rephrase huge deal on christmas, birthdays etc, but for the well off its nothing special just another meal. moody what happened to you?? why are you all dusty? mother asked, huh, err replied moody, i got all dirty trying to catch the chicken for my grandma, she needed that one particular stubborn hen for tonight's stew, and it was a hard job but eventually i managed to catch the poor biddy, tsk tsk said my mama shaking her head and went back into the kitchen muttering "boys". i have to go moody said hurriedly, before he took off he said he will save me a flatbread or two. before i could answer he was gone. oh well my dear ogre matomanyongoloka, what will we do about that boy and his dusty self? but to my dismay my ogre friend had left too, bath time! mama yelled and bring your baby sister with you get ready, am getting the hot water ready come on meimei, lets go, am coming she replied, she was gathering her toys and i could not wait until bedtime so i can talk to matomanyongoloka again in peace, aaah we have so much to talk about especially about life beyond the blue hills, finally in bed aaah, i could hear my baby sister's soft purr's or snore'ettes, the room was cozy enough to lull anyone to sleep, as i was lost in my thoughts of the surroundings of our tiny bedroom, mama distracted me again, when she stamped my forehead with a gentle warm kiss, while zooming around the room picking up laundry and toys off of our bedroom floor, now our house was not very big but roomy enough for us and lots more love to bloom, she was an extraordinary woman, raising two kids of her own and a nephew with asthma all on her own, we did just fine, father was here when he liked and gone the next like a thief. my cousin lahmad was at grandma's at the moment since he had chickenpox mama suggested he go recuperate over there, that way we all dont get sick, i miss the wheezing lil bugger already. now hush your mind and go to sleep child, mama said softly as to not wake up meimei, and out she went along with the lights.

Psst!! Ogre, are you there? i asked, my ogre friend is kind of shy and comes and goes as he pleases," ogre"!!! aah okay then, maybe tomorrow i will have better luck, wonder what happened to him today? oh well,,,, zzzzz!
