A poem depicting a child who cannot perform well at academics and ends her life. |
CHILDHOOD ENDS Parents, teachers, peers, and councilors, What do you preach the child? Let her think and grow herself, Don’t pressurize the child. The child has got lot to say, As it grows each day, Let me tell a tragic story That goes this way. She was a daughter of an affluent father, With lot of wits and charm, Parents busy with clubs and career, that is the daily norm She found, music dance and drama Very fascinating, Physics, chemistry math and bio Not really interesting She dreamt of a far of land Where all the dancers meet, Danced around and tapped her feet, To the music beat Father’s advice and mother’s compulsion Made her study hard Crammed the books, worked the sums Scored high in her card Time and again, Her mind would stop At the dancing hall, Fantasizing herself, she would feel Gracing in the ball Father pestered, mother forced her To join the medical field Heart of heart she drowned herself In the dancing guild Preoccupied parents with career and relations With whom to share the dreams? Her passion fire of dancing desire Where to look for keys She turned quiet and withdrawn Having sleepless nights, The pressure to perform and outshine, Only dropped her grades Insult, defame, snub and abuse Only tortured her, Not knowing How to regain, Poison ended her, |
