No, it’s not a Scary Movie or Halloween prank that has me scared, nor the idea that herds of little children will be pounding on my door; it’s all the proof that is surfacing of global warming.

We need to take a serious look around us to see what we’ve gotten ourselves into here on Mother Earth. We need to look further into what we can about it.

It now screams “It’s Real, It’s Real” for everyone in the world to see. I understand that supposedly the only part of Florida that will still be here in forty years are only the really high spots, like Britton Hills (345 ft above sea level) in North Florida, near the Alabama border. That in a nutshell is enough to make you squirm. I feel like we are going to turn into another Atlantis, sinking into the ocean, never to be heard from again. Yes, I know I’m getting dramatic here, but LOOK AT US, WORLD! Look what we have done to our planet.

Now at least much of the “Go Green” information is finally being taken seriously. The Hybrid and the Electric car should have been out years, and years ago. We all know they were around but it seems the automobile industry, or the oil industry (who knows?) kept the information to themselves.

All the Sci-Fi flicks we’ve watched over the years of people leaving this planet and colonizing somewhere else is no longer make believe, folks. There is even disturbing talk about the possibility of a polar shift that will undoubtedly affect every one on Earth.

God, whether you believe in him/her or not, gave us a paradise to live in and we have destroyed it bit, by bit. The Rainforests have been shrunk to a level that is no longer sufficient to do its thing to clean and purify the air. Yes, we can plant trees, but what about those trees that may now be extinct? What about the ozone layer and the very real hole we have created in it?

What are we leaving for our children? What are we doing to ourselves? People still litter, and throw trash on the side of the road for someone else to pick up. We called them “Tree Huggers” back in the day, but now we understand why they were so adamant. They felt the pain of the planet long before the populous did.

We all must join together, or if not, even on our own start doing those things that will help our planet now! The Native Americans have done so for centuries, as have other tribes around the world. The last thing I want to hear as I’m close to death is my grandbaby saying, “Grandma, what is a Pelican,” because they have never seen, or will see, one before.

Let’s all do or part, no matter how small it may be, and let’s spread the word so everybody is doing the same. Don’t let that litterbug get away with it. Don’t buy gas guzzling automobiles that spew noxious gases into our atmosphere. Most of all don’t’ stand by and do nothing!
