Bitter cold winter memories

Betrayal



whispering winds weave through skeleton trees
blankets of sins lie at my feet
an umbrella of gray skies overhead
cries of the banshee echo in my head

the ghosts of memories past rush to mind
peace elusive, so hard to find
haunting reveries that I can't escape
dark daydreams of you and my fall from grace

echoes of sins reverberate
as my guilt and turmoil refuse to wane
any efforts to heal, sadly, in vain

the ghosts of memories past rush to mind
all bittersweet and none too kind
nothing can repair what was once a whole
the lies that broke you leave scars on my soul
