Punishment?

Those were college days. Seeing a beautiful girl waiting for the taxi, ‘Come dear, sit on my bike,’ I teased her. With my friend we speeded ahead, laughing.

We had to return…pulling our punctured bike.

We passed her, lugging the bike to the repairer. Ashamed, we avoided looking at her.

She was on crutches.
