Every day, I glance around.
I see people,
but still, I frown.
Even though I’m surrounded,
I feel alone;
like I’m grounded.
Everywhere I go,
I walk with no one beside me.
I don’t walk fast, I walk slow.
I’m not afraid to be seen alone.
I’m afraid of being lost and confused for the rest of my days.
I’m afraid of no longer having a home.
Even though darkness surrounds me,
I see a light at the end of the tunnel.
The light brightens continuously
with every step I take.
When I was younger, I knew
life wasn’t going to be a piece of cake.
I should’ve expected the unexpected along with the expected.
That, I should have done.
But I didn’t.
So, I ask: is it my fault I feel alone…
lost and confused?
Well, you know what: it doesn’t matter, because I will always be strong.
